Islamic Law

by Wajahat Ali Khan

It is difficult to believe that the Koran represents Divine Law. After looking into the nature of law and what the Koran preaches, I have gone off everything which has Arabian flavour.

It is universally believed that true law applies to everybody with equal force, but the Koran gives exemption to the Prophet Muhammad from certain laws, which are binding on all Muslims. For example, no Muslim can have more than four wives at the same time, but the Prophet can have as many as he likes.

Again, a believer can have four wives only if he can treat them all equally but this law does not apply to the Prophet Muhammad, who was given dispensation from it, and authorised by Allah to treat them as he thought fit.

Is it really law-making? It is surely mockery of the law, and the law-maker i.e., Allah Himself.
